I was inspired by the red cord originating from Chinese mythology, as well as the film “Your Name.”

Here, the red string symbolizes fate and connection. The string’s unraveling is a visual play on words for time unravelling (and the fact that cats love string). The light pouring in from the right represents a door opening to his next journey. In some ways, this piece represents the sorrow I felt when I couldn’t be there for him on the day he was put to sleep—and the comfort I felt knowing that his soul could be in peace.
