I was inspired by the red cord that originates from Chinese mythology and symbolizes fate and connection. I illustrated a frayed string  to symbolize the unravelling of time and Salt's love for string. The light pouring in from the right represents the door to his next journey. This illustration expresses both sorrow and joy: his playful spirit, how I couldn't be there for him when he was put to sleep, the joy he brought me growing up, and comfort knowing that his soul is resting in peace.​
